Mates C gets a wobble on over 30mph, and is worse on throttle.

Checked arm bushes and trackrod end, all good. But when wobbling the steering I csn hear a knocking from the rack.

Common fault?

How much of a fuck on is a rackchange on a C?

Has tyres been balanced or do they have flat spot

Rack ends are common on those, you don't need the full rack out, you can just do the bits with the play.

Just as I say, you can do it without changing the complete rack.

Whip the wheel off and remove the track rod from the hub, engage the steering lock and have a swing. If that is where the play is you can change just that bit.
