Single person - enters a relationship, early days, still not official as such - when is the right time to change the relationship status?

Straight away? Later? Not for a while?

What about if it hadn't started yet? Speculative change?

I've got some thoughts on it but I'm saving them until later.

Probably once I've asked her if we're exclusive. You don't just do it without talking about it first.

How sad a world is it where this kind of shit actually matters and could end a relationship.

Also funny online is the exact opposite of real world.

I've just started seeing a lass, been together about 3 months and mine isn't set to "in a relationship" yet.

In fact, not sure it ever will unless she starts to give me grief about it. IMO folk who change it all the time are just attention seeking. Just hide it and those that need to know will know anyways rather than having a load of nosey cunts making comment on it.

Why wait for her? What if she's waiting for you? Is that not just some stalemate waiting thing in which you're both too fag to actually declare the truth? Is she so much better at making relationship decisions?

It's not about me, I'll make my own decisions about it, I just gave it some thought the other day and came out thinking really badly of people who leave it. Consider this -

If you're getting towards being in a relationship - go exclusive already. Don't leave the rest of Facebook thinking you're still on the market when you're not. Out of respect to the person you might eventually get with - stop now. Your single flag is completely incongruent with the amount of focus that you're going to try and give this new thing. Why would you not change it a week before you think it's going to go somewhere? You don't keep your options open weeks after you've actually started managing this girls' expectation, the understanding is there now. Would you be pissed off if you were trying to develop something and she kept her options open? Dead right you would. Respect the person who you're attempting to secure and be clear to all the other people on the internet that you're out the game now.

Anyone who has something going on and hasn't changed it - you are a player of the highest order. Get some integrity already and be clear to the other people that you're actually expending some effort on making that work.

IMO.

If that causes anything to finish, it wasn't going anywhere anyway, I'm happy to debate it in my mind and said girl can't do that, she clearly didn't have the cognitive capacity anyway. Doesn't matter to me. The ironic thing is that I would actually be doing it out of recognition of what might happen. If you're going to afford some effort in to making it work, should you not also be clear to the other people? Not about to try and get something under way and have that undermined by the fact that I'm not actually fully interested in it.

If the a girl wanted me to change it, I would if not, I'd probably just delete the info so it doesn't say anything. I'm quite a private person and not a fan of people knowing all my close info anyway.

End of the day facebook doesn't rule my life. The minute It's taking over my life so much that its stressing me out because I can't decide what to put on or not, is the day I delete it.

if I was single drifting in and out of relationships, im not sure id bother updating.

Seeing someones status going from 'in a relationship' to 'single' seems quite personal and just opens the gates for piss taking.
