Hi I'm on the look out for a diesel I wanted a Astra cdti 150 but after reading the common problems I've been put off

It's got to be nothing bigger than a Astra mk5
3 door
Diesel
About 6k max anything less is better
Got to be quick

What do You suggest?

Pick any car, google it, it will have common faults.

I no but they have got to many major ones inlet manifold, gearbox, clutch and flywheel your looking at 500-1000 each for them parts

I think id go for the fr Ibiza as there cheaper to insure

Astra is much more car than the Ibiza.

Ibiza suspension is a bit more stiffer than the Astra, but i would still pick 1 over an Astra tbh. Cheaper to buy and very good all round cars and not as common. Don't seem to have as much "horror stories" either.

I've owned both and the Astra is more of a car.

Ibiza isn't bad and I like 1.9 tdi's but it's like a tin can compared to the Astra.

I do really like the Astra cdti sri with xp kits but I dont like the horror stories there like a time bomb waiting to go off with all them problems
