i have been thinking about getting a astra cdti sri 150bhp for a while been to see one and i liked driving it, didnt get that one becuase things changed but now i can get one again
right last week i had a good search about them and seen all the common problems and the costs of them to get them fixed which were expensive.
i thought about getting a different car but nothing else really takes my fancy as i wanted a astra with the xp kit and full heated leather if i could
now my question is what are the 120bhp versions like compared to the 150bhp ?
do they have less problems and what are they?
somebody said that lower mileage ones are worse becuase they havent had the major problems is it true
if i were to get the 120bhp remapped what would it map to and would the clutch still be ok if i did ?

I had the 120bhp in a Vectra afew years ago, had the car for nearly 4 years and the only real mechanical problem I had was the gearbox needed replacing, when it was 3 1/2 years old.
My car had a tuning box fitted from when it was around 3 months old (about 6000 miles), until I got rid of it at around 90,000 miles

150 will be more desirable when you come to sell and better to own. No reason to buy the 120 really.

not for me it wasnt - was a company car, plus Vauxhall paid half, saying a car with that mileage shouldnt have gearbox problems

Try £900 at a dealer to replace.
Every car has its problems.

Less desirable engine. Sounds even more like a tractor. No where near as quick or fuel efficent as the 150.
150 will map better.

Yes I have owned one, I got the 150 SRi because that's the one to have.
Why have less power and the less desirable one because the internet says they sometimes break?

My swirl flaps have gone, but the gearbox is sound as a pound. Thats with 75k.
Its swings and roundabouts.
And you hear about failures more now because of the internet.
Never hear about the good stuff.

Not from new, was about a year old.
It might have fallen apart after I got rid of it, I was just saying I had 0 problems, most of the internet probably don't post that though, they'll only post when something breaks.
