As above i can push the budget over 10k for the right car.

After as low miles and as new as possible thinking about resale value is this more important than equipment ie are they harder to sell without sat nav etc

Any pointers from people that have owned them?

Was looking at these 4, options? Which would you buy and why anyone know of any others!?

Cheers, Gareth.

3rd out of the 4 for me, the colour wins it

Although convertible & SMG are homo

Just check under the carpet above the subframe for any cracks, you'll only see it there if its got really bad. Get in the car, try pulling away with the handbrake on, if one side drops more than the other and you get creaking noises it could be gone. BMW will repair it for free depending on service history & under 10 years old

That's the only real main thing

If you go silver its got to have the red leather so number 1 for me. The higher mileage wouldn't bother me as I don't do much, but obviously don't know your situation. Number 3 is a close 2nd though.

Can live with the homo comments lol i really want silver but may choose the blue as it will be easier to sell on. Wont be doing many miles as it will be a 3rd car.

Is the smg unrelieable?

If you don't do much miles then don't let the higher mileage put you off, when you do come to sell it yours won't have changed much and the rest will be going up constantly, if you get what I mean

Option 3.

Simply because of the colour, hate silver.

1st option is way over priced. Its done 80k silver and its 10years old.

Estoril will hold its money better and be rarer as its an individual not a standard colour.

SMG isnt unreliable as such, but IF it does a pump the cost is huge to replace unless you get lucky with a second hand pump. However i would only buy the SMG variant now.

I wouldn't have any of them tbh. I'd hold out for a grey one with red leather or Phoenix yellow with matching interior. Also wouldn't have the smg box as its more than likely to go tits up (going but the threads on cutters) before Jambo starts lol.

Eck is right out of the two the manual is more "reliable" but that's to say an SMG is unreliable which it shouldn't be had it been properly maintained

I think it's a typical Internet story though. Every car goes wrong, it's just if it does go wrong it's expensive, but very little on these cars is cheap. They might be 10k now but they were 50k at one time.

Higher mileage doesn't matter, my mate had one on 160k and it was still going strong. These engines very very rarely fail, mostly due to driver error or bad mapping (run lean) I'm just unlucky
