Lutons have the 'luton top' over the cab, box vans just have the box starting behind the cab.

Lutons are fine on a normal license. I think you have to watch the weight though.

Yeah, lutons and box vans tend to be more spacious but are heavier unladen than an equivalent panel van so payload is lower.

Define "normal" licence.

You mean B then 3.5t. Doesn't matter what body style. Could be massive and as Mike says therefore carries less because the vehicle itself is heavier.

You can get 3.5t Lutons

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERCEDES-SPRINTER-311-CURTAIN-SIDE-3-5T-LUTON-/280868873449
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Supersize-17-feet-Jumbo-Luton-Dropwell-/330722304675

same as you can get 5t+ panel vans.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Iveco-Daily-65c17-Hi-Roof-LWB-6-5-tonne-Turbo-Diesel-Van-Tail-lift-/180873673350
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Iveco-Daily-50C14-MWB-2005-05-REG-/260977403569

You can even get a 5t van and call it a 3.5t van

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/05-FORD-IVECO-DAILY-50C13-MWB-HIGH-TOP-2-8-50C-MID-TWIN-REAR-WHEEL-35C13-VAN-50-/220994316587

Depends what you're carrying.
