I've finally got around to cleaning the Corsa Don't ask me why, this sun's obviously playing with my brain, I even cleaned the Combo too

Anyway, as you can probably guess, no 2 bucket method, paint depth readings or snow foam were involved in this procedure and yes it could be a hell of a lot better but I have neither the skills nor the inclination to try to get the paintwork upto any kind of standard.

Cleaning it also helped to show that I really do love Castle Combe's chicanes a little bit too much (damage from repeatedly hitting corner markers)

I knew someone was going to mention tyre shine. I couldn't be bothered going through the box of cleaning stuff to find it

The wheels are probably 5.5in I would imagine, 195 tyres.

Surprised at that.

Mine's actually fibreglass with a layer of cf. It was advertised as cf but with a cheap price so I just took a punt, still saved a few kilos though.

It's all been about budget upto now tbh, I only paid £50 for those wheels. I know my old Comps where 7in and they only had about 1mm clearance from the shock but I'm hoping to get some GAZ coilovers at some point which are supposed to be pretty wide so I'd want them on ideally before I start looking at wheels, just so I can be sure everything's going to have the space it needs.

idea for you, pretty reasonable budget too.

If you're up at KH at any of our trackdays we can see how my arch extensions fit the corsa Some wider track wide wheels would fit in nicely

9" wide with a 10-20mm spacer

Fuck Yeah!

it would look ace and stick to the track...

only downside would be it feeling a bit numb on turn in

Try it - tape on some arch extensions for a look

Balls to steels, the SXis weigh more than the moon as it is

I'll probably look into something wider again in future, maybe even go back to the Comps, the only reason I changed was because the powdercoat was literally peeling off in sheets plus tyres where cheaper for the 15s rather than the 16s. The comps are pretty spacious for when I start looking at brakes too. You have got me tempted with a bit of wide arch action though

Next you need a second hand one of these.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/corsa-tigra-performance-inlet-manifold-x14xe-x16xe-c16-/261027650569?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cc675dc09
And this.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-Corsa-B-1-4-16v-1-6-16v-4-Branch-Exhaust-Manifold-/290718089401?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43b02600b9
Which will make it so much more driveable up at the top of the rev range. Making it a 106 eater.

Thanks again for letting me be success ballast.

No worries Mike. Have you seen the videos I posted from a Civic and a 106 on that session? Some decent footage in there.

some cheap wide arch extension car pics to contemplate

for reference...

with these arches I run a 2" wider wheels, 20mm spacers AND 20mm lower offset wheels.

Roughly 60-70mm wider track each side, 140mm overall with 255mm tyres

How much would it affect the turn in then?
Say going an inch wider and inch less on offset?
Always wondered this as I can get cheap 13x8 slicks, and would love to run them on the 106 lol.

Mmm, I reckon left black like Matty's would suit the Corsa nicely, riveted on too to match the windows and sunroof

I do often think it could do with beefing up a bit obviously looks aren't much of a concern to me but if it adds function too, it's definitely worth thinking about.

you could alter the geo to make it handle differently, but i noticed it felt numb at the front.

Dialing in some toe-out may resolve this.
