You cant go wrong with a K&N 57i in my opinion, but so ive heard the PVD cone is a gr8 choice 2.
Hope that helps dan.
57i's are only about £65

Put things into perspective.... K&N probable spent hundreads of thousands in developing the 57i and are still developing the induction kit futher... if thats at all possible...
PVD has taken the basic concept and done a smaller amont of testing to produce a cheaper but good quality filter which has the same performace increase you would exspect from K&N.
on the whole you would never be able to tell the difference in every day use...
where as if you had a top notch fast as fuck performance circit racing car you would proably notice some difference...
so they are equaliy as good as each other, the only difference being the matrials used to manufacture the components... i would have to give that one to K&N.

Didn't know Piper made them...
What i'm on about is it will make no difference which one you put on, unless you got the car to make a diffrence with.

I changed my K&N for a BFO last week, and its hard to fault either of them, the PVD jobbie is probably slightly noisier but thats the only noticable difference.
