Hi im looking to upgrade the front brakes and im stuck which to choose 256mm or 288mm?Ive heard you can get a spongey pedal feel from v6 calipers is this a major issue and is there anythin to reduce this?Is there a massive difference between the two?Any help would be great. Thanks

Ive suposebly got 2.0 litre brakes and to be honest im not sure i can tell any difference over my 1.4s apart from further pedal travel so my first thing to upgrade would be braided hoses.... Gotta get some for mine. I mite even change mine to v6s at some point to see the difference.

288's are very heavy, give you a long pedal.
256's are the ones to go for, with nice fresh fluid, good pads and disc's.
What engine have you got?

Stick the 288's on ebay, and buy some 256mm 16v jobbies, loads better. I've had both.

I was undecided. I thought the 288's were bloody awesome, but long pedal travel doesn't fill you with confidence. 256's seemed to match with the car a bit better.

Would things like braided hoses and better fluid help the pedal feel?

Has anyone looked into master cylinder or servo upgrade to go with the 288 brakes that will stop the pedel travel being so long?
I upgraded the brakes on my 205GTi to the some 306GTi6 ones with an MC from a 405 and it did the job perfectly.

You can't get one that fits without too much trouble. Might as well go pedal box.
