18 months ago I did the Cambridge diet and lost 5 stone in 7 months
I wasn't doing any exercise as I couldn't fit it in to my lifestyle so the Cambridge suited me at the time..

For the last 11 months all I did was just continue to maintain my weight which id got down to by eating healthy plus getting back in to work and generally just being more active

In the last 3 months I have been exercising at least 3 times a week by joining a gym and doing things like swimming, circuits, boxercise, running, gym program, legs bums tums classes

I had my assessment yesterday and nothing had changed with my weight, bodyfat and bmi, however my resting heart rate has dropped from 78 to 58 which I was really pleased with as obviously my fitness has improved!!

I desperately want to lose another stone and think that maybe I'm not eating the right things???

Can anyone give me advice as what to have on a typical day? I'm not fussy what I eat!! Just want to eat the right things to help lose that last stone!!!

Would be easier giving a break down of what you are eating rather than someone giving out a whole new diet plan?

Why the protein shake and meal replacement? Seems pointless in my eyes and I'd imagine it doesn't fill you up as much as a healthy breakfast?

Breakfast options are:

Scrambled eggs on wholegrain toast
Porridge Oats & fruit
Muesli

Evening meals you could cut carbs out but if you are gyming it you need them.

Jacket sweet potato
wholegrain pasta or rice
grilled Salmon / tuna / mackerel
green vegetables
grilled chicken fillet
steak once or twice a week
stir fry's are ok if you don't use lots of oil and use olive oil but try to keep under the smoke point (if your not sure what the smoke point is google it)

Use this website for lots of guides:

Can you mix anything with pasta or rice so it's not so dry and bland?

Yeah to an extent.

There is quite a lot of low calorie dressings in Tescos, Honey & Mustard etc... 1 tablespoon is something like 15 calories.

Some people use Soy Sauce with rice.

Nismo's link is good. The reason I asked about the shake is because I always find having one for breakfast never keeps me as full as when I have "proper" food.

With pasta I always season the breast with some Nandos rub or the Shwartz spices, put the chicken and pasta (cooked obviously) in a Tupperware box and shake for a few seconds. The spices from the chicken run off onto the pasta, tastes good hot or cold

Diet Coke is something like 5 calories per can so nothing to worry about, however you should be drinking plenty of water a day apparently.

Thanks for the tip on the chicken seasoning and good point about the shake. I am usually hungry by lunchtime so might try porridge instead. Is it ok to snack between meals say on carrots or fruit?

Calories in, calories out doesn't lie.

A typical day for me looks really well, untill I log what i eat and then find one thing here another there etc. Few too many sugary drinks

If everyone stuck to what they write down on a "typical day" we would all look brilliant.

As a general rule to loose weight steadily and healthy you want to be eating very little carbs, like 40 grams max with say lunch and same for dinner. I know you go to the gym and need energy but cutting down on carbs will mean the body need's to break down fat to get this energy, yes before any one mentions it it will also burn muscle but im guessing your not a body builder or competitor requiring muscular build so this isn't so much of a problem.

I've also been advised that you need to obviously when doing cardio make sure your heart rate is in the fat burning zone for your age I keep mine around 120 / 130 BPM

Also more regularly you eat (healthy) of coarse the more your metabolism will increase. Some people go to the extreme's of not eating fruit ect after certain times, I personally don't as you need vitamins ect from fruit & veg and unless you completely stop drinking fizz and eating sweets ect the natural sugar content in them is very low compared. 3 meal and say 2 snack in between means your eating '5 meals' a day which is steady enough for the bodies metabolism to increase

Try and cut down on fizzy drinks and crisps sweets ect the more of this you cut out the better
