After deciding to hang onto my 330 until at least Spring next year decided to spend a bit on her.
I have been having a real dilemma with wheels and was looking at all the common options BBS CH, CSL and even flirted with MV3's and MV4's but could not decide.
Then I spotted this on bimmer forums :
Sitting on style 32's from an E38 7 Series
The offsets are mega low ET20 and ET23 so they stick out quite far.
Also 9" on the rear and due to the offset you cannot run more then a 215 Tyre hence the stretch. The owner of the car above had to have an arch roll on the back as well.
I have always modified my cars with performance and handling being the priority.
Have never modified for looks, bling, SCENE or whatever so going to give this a shot.
After watching these wheels on ebay and seeing them sell for between 500-700 a set i found a full set for £120 from a guy that had them as spares for his 7 series which he just sold. Did not hang about and snapped them up.
Just ordered some coilovers as well and found a place that will roll both rear arches for £70 and their work looks spot on.
So can pull this look of for not mega bucks and i LOVE those wheels.
A new direction for me

Not scene to the point that you're compromising too much.
If the tyres are nearly falling off and you ruin the car with hard suspension then perhaps, but that one in the pics isn't too daft.

Yeah it will certainly have its challenges especially as mine is an auto and the sump sits lower (hence why Eibach only list the pro kit springs and not sportline springs for auto's).
Think there are a couple of car parks I will need to stay out of and will have to be careful with parking close to kerbs and certainly no bumping up them.
Getting aftermarket wheels to look good on an non M E46 is a challenge and i think the above looks awesome and not to far of OEM.

That style is E46 as well is it not?
Not that wide I know, but they're still standing looking while fitting a bit nicer.

You can get an E46 version of style 32's but they don't have the deep lip and look a bit cack.

There are x 2 2004 faceflit 330ci's on ebay at the moment for £4500
One is a high mile clubsport and one is a 67k (i think example)
The low mileage one is ridiculously cheap but does not state it is CAT D etc.

personally I wouldn't run such a skinny tyre on the back of a rwd car, is there no way you can squeeze something bigger on? I run a 235 on a 9j wheel on my car and its still got quite a bit of stretch to it.
That red one does look good though. Don't usually like those alpina style wheels but they look ace with the decent dish on there.

I am only going on that chaps research and he has done this on two cars now.
The combination of using a Falken FK452 (relatively narrow sidewalls) 215/40, the car being a couple and an arch roll only just lets him get away with it. The 7 Series style 32`s really are a ridiculously low offset.
I also had a look on some US BMW forums as a few have done this over there and the coupe has slightly better reach arch clearance then Saloons.
I ran 225/40 Continental Winter Contacts over the winter and the 225 all round is Continentals recommendation for an E46 on Winter Tyres. I actually liked how the car handled on a non staggered set up and when I went back to 225/255 it tramlined all over the place.
Realistically is a 215 much narrower then a 225?
I could see if the arch guys can try and pull of a slight flare on the rear arches when they role them?
I will have a couple of 225/40's that I can try on the rear and maybe see if I get away with it. a 235 will be out of the question.
