now when I put it in me laptop, it says this..........
and that I should format the USB pen.
Can anybody help? I have no information on the CCTV system used etc and I have to report back to him 2morrow night.....

Download FTK Imager and try mounting the USB stick to see whats actually on there.
It wouldn't surprise me if the stick is corrupted though :-/

You sure it hasn't been formatted to something windows can't read without additional drivers? I had a drive which was formatted to IFS (I think?) and another in HFS+.
Best off getting the model number of the system, if it has a CD/ DVD drive you're best off putting it on a disc.

Yeh I think its been formatted on the CCTV drive to something I do not know. Will have to investigate further.
This is the message I got after I ran the FTK Imager

It'll be an unsupported filesystem. Personally i'd use a linux LiveCD (Ubuntu etc) and see if it's able to mount the USB drive there.
Might also be worth reading up on the CCTV system and seeing if it mentions anything or if there's an alternative method of getting the footage off.

Do you have access to a Windows XP machine ? I have had problems in the past with some USB memory sticks and Windows 7 where I get the exact same issue however they work fine on XP.

Find out the make / model of the DVR and call the tech support team, i expect the usb pen has been formatted into the dvr file system and if you plug it back into the DVR it will play the footage.
When you exported it did it say what format it was going to export in? can you not go back and export to a cd or something thats a playable format?

You can format it back to FAT/NTFS, so that isn't an issue, but obviously you want to get the data off. Tbf there is probably a more user friendly method of getting the footage off the CCTV system, so i'd have a look in the manual and see what the options are.

I can burn to cdr but the file is massive as i couldnt select the start time of the incident... Only the stop time. And anyway, the cctv DVR is on overwrite mode so data will be gone by now

Which case download Ubuntu LiveCD (download from HERE, READ THIS) and burn to CD), once booted into Ubuntu stick the USB stick in and see if it mounts.
Might be worth reading THIS; there's a few handy apps listed that might determine what the filesystem is.
Alternatively, do what Nismo said and give the manufacturer of the DVR a call and see what they say about getting access to the footage.

If you boot up into the Linux CD then plug the drive in you could try this:
http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-how-to-determine-find-out-file-system-type/
To show what file system you have on there.
Otherwise....
How big is the image file you took in FTK? Maybe you could send it over and I could have a look.

Was a long shot but it's likely to be some obscure filesystem then.
Do a google for 'PC Viewer D6' it might be what you're looking for. Although from having a quick look around, it looks like PC Viewer is used to extract/view footage from the DVR via network rather than from drives. Which case you might be able to import the footage back to the DVR from your USB drive, then you can temporary connect the Safe-Core DVR to your network/router and use PC Viewer to drag the footage off the DVR.

If all else fails you could post me the stick and I will have a play. Can't promise anything but will give it a go!
