Wouldn't be exciting if it wasn't a bit scary but I'd want the safety people working a bit faster to extinguish flames and extricate the driver.

ian if i was on fire i wouldnt give a fuck who dragged me out the car if it was a member of the croud or a marshal.
in proper stage rallying in most cases in a bad crash its the croud who helps to get the driver/navi out in an accident as obviously u cant have marshals the full length of say a 13mile forrest stage.
anyway the marshals are just weekend warriers anyway dont get specially trained , in the way a fire man does. so theres no difference

There's a huge difference between stage rallying in single track roads in the UK and messing around in an arena with proper marshals etc in the USA.

Yeah, guys taking pics/video with the iPads look a touch out of place. I was at a rally in a forest near to where I live a few weeks back & a guy was standing there trying to take pics with his iPad. And, believe it or not, he got thick & stormed off when I took my SLR out & stood beside him!
