Hi everyone im not sure if this has been covered on here but my corsa project is near completion and was wondering when i come to tax it weather i would get in trouble with the law if i was not to register it as a 2.0lt and keep it as a 1.0 lt on the v5 insurance i can get cheap enough but was concerned about taxing.
Would anyone be able to shed some light in this area thanks carl

In a crash technically you aren't covered by insurance if it isn't taxed (which it wouldn't be as it would be taxed as a 1.0l)
I know a lot of people on this site do it like how you have said but personally I don't advise it.
It's easy to sort through the DVLA and only costs about £220 a year. I do mine in 6 months which is £122 I just paid.

Ok thanks so is there a form I can get to declare the engine change. I have heard you have to have a certificate from a mechanic to show the engine is in safely

You fill in the engine capacity size in the log book to the new size and then change the engine number to the new one.
Then sign it and date it then that part is done.
Then get a garage to check what you have written is correct and get them to confirm it in a letter stating the reg number, engine number and engine size.
All the DVLA are caring about is that they are getting the correct money, there wasn't anything that I read when looking into it that said the garage needed to state it was safe.

You need to tell your insurance.
If you ant afford the engine, remove it.

Its not that insurance aint to bad just wondered if it would cone through as a 2.0 and I wouldn't have to add the mods in

You'd have to tell them regardless mate

When i registered mine as a 2.0 it still came up as a 1.6 on the insurance database.
Go to the DVLA office with the updated engine number and engine cc on the V5 and they will sort it all out for you.
