Talk to me..

How much would you say a 54 plate Cooper S, 60000 miles, Full Service History, Grey, Chilli Pack? No mention of what tax and MOT is on the car.

I'm in need of a new car after selling mine yesterday and not having a way of getting anywhere, Mini's are appealing to me because of the handling etc.

Also what are the service costs like on these if done by BMW/Mini? I've read 60k miles is an Inspection 2 unless it's already had it done!

I believe a few of you have/had an R53, what were your opinions on them?

EDIT: Also, what are the common faults on these? If there are any!

Car in question! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230817722935?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1041wt_1191

£5650, which seems about right compared to others. Parkers book price is £4810 with 80k miles. Could possibly get it for £5000 i'd have thought?

It's been for sale there for a while i think, so they might have a bit more movement on the price, all depends on what tax and MOT it's got on it really

Great fun.
Handling is spot on, enough pace to keep you happy, supercharger whine is addictive.
Fairly easy to tune 200+bhp.
Lots of aftermarket parts to keep mini looking individual.

I can't wait till the end of the month though, this week is fine without a car because I can get lifts to work off a mate, but I'll be working different shifts very shortly which means I need a car

Common faults are Chewbacca noise from the clutch when pulling away, don't let that put you off though as most do it now and again. Steering rack noise also and can be a fairly expensive fix I'm told.
There will be some rattles and noises inside but that's just the plastics and an easy thing to sort with a bit cardboard.
Service can be a bit on the expensive side for a small hatch but its not wallet destoying stuff.
Other than that chuck a pulley on and a bigger intercooler and listen to the whiiiineeee!
Oh and some of the one with the chilli pack came with a diff.

Good job i took my brother with me really! They already had the car warmed up for when i got there always a bad sign in my opinion!

Started it up, bad knocking noise from under the bonnet, turned out to be the flywheel!
Had two tyres on the front which weren't run flats and had cracks in them, one of the rear run flats was bald.
Bootlid was starting to rust in a few small places.
Although it'd had a service a few months ago at a BMW/Mini garage the oil didn't look like it had been changed, it had also had a random service abroad 4 years ago
Drivers door card was scratched to fuck! he said they could get it repainted but it was a brushed steel effect, so god knows how they were planning on doing that!
Also had a few scuffs and a dodgy bit of a respray around the fuel filler cap.
