It's just under a month to the new season so thought I'd start gathering interest on this.
Last season we ran a Prediction League for the first time on here and i thought it was fairly successful. For anyone who didnt take part the league was based on predicting scores in all the Premier League games, week by week, for the 2011/2012 Season. It was £20 entry and the top 3 placed won the prize money, with Chrissy taking 1st, IVIarkgraham 2nd and Nath 3rd.
We had 15 players last year so I'm hoping we can up the numbers this time. I'm hoping that by doing so we can have things such as Bi-monthly prizes, whereby the top scoring predictor for the 2 months wins a cash prize, this hopefully will keep everyone interested even if you are coming to the end of the season and in last place.
Last season i ran the league entirely by myself, adding up the scores and updating the league/fixtures each week, which was quite time consuming but not a major issue and something I'd be happy to do again. However, another option is to use a 3rd party league from the internet. http://www.predictthepremiership.com is one I'm looking at using. It uses the same rules as what we used last year except for 2 which are highlighted in bold below:
3 points for predicting an exact score
1 point for predicting the correct result (ie. you correctly predict the winner, or you correctly predict a draw, but by the wrong number of goals).
2 point bonus for predicting the correct result if that result was predicted by less than 20% of your competitors.
2 point bonus for predicting the exact score if that score was predicted by less than 5% of your competitors.
They were actually rules i wanted to include in this years league anyway (to encourage a bit of risk taking and give people below a chance to catch up by gambling on some results), so I'm happy, if everyone else is, to use this.
So, what do people think and who is interested. I'll start a list but only put your name down if you're pretty certain you're going to commit so we have a good idea of the numbers we are looking at.
I'll set a deadline of Saturday, 4th August for interest and to firm up how we are going to run the league (Myself or 3rd party) and Saturday, 11th August for money.

Shit yeah. I got the most correct results without getting correct scores last term so I'm happy for the new rules

I haven't actually decided yet. Initially I'll say the same as last year (£20) but if we could get more people by dropping the fee I could look to drop the price.

I'd say BenG too but theres no way his missus would let him spend £20 on this game and i dont think he has any vouchers for it.
If your name is on the above list and you dont compete, you will be branded a homosexual and will be ignored in all further football chat.

I took care of the money last year. Shoved it in my Bank Acc and raped the interest. My plan is to run this league for the next 50 years then I'll be RICH, RICH BEYOND MY WILDEST DREAMS!!
But yeah, we'll do it same as last year, Bank Transfer to me and I'll pay the winners out in May.

It's ok. I can appreciate how much time and effort you have to do. Could we not knock up a spreadsheet that auto scores for us?

I would if i was even slightly competent on Excel
I did it all by hand and calculator If its good enough for the Blue Square Bet Premier, its good enough for me.
