I know you can do this with the reg. doc. as you have doc. reference number but what about without?

Typically I wouldn't get service history and car would need a VIC to get the reg. doc. if its Cat C.

What other ways are there to verify the mileage? Do you have access to that at an MOT station with just reg plate or chassis?

So if you just rock up to an MOT with the car and therefore reg. and VIN, they can do the test but not see history?

Engine number wouldn't be recorded in the MOT would it?

I can see if the engine is original to the car using the build records, but the mileage is the chassis.

Shame you need the doc. ref. really, that's hassle to obtain on a salvage car.

Not sure if they can see history. Probably can, but sharing it with you might be an issue. Unless you know them.

Yeah got a few I know to go see, it's more whether they can access it than whether they'll pass it on to me.

Not even bothered about paying for it as I think it would make the stuff worth more, just been reading CC there are people talking about buying ZLETs with no history, clearly dodgy, sure they'd come to me if I was honest and proved it.

Or you could MOT it, and use the ref number from the test certificate.

Can you use the number off the fail cert?

That would be good also. Probably wouldn't be a pass because of sharp edges etc. but I'm only paying £25, that's a good option.

Even if it fails, which im guessing it will if its damaged, you can still use the refusal cert to do an online check.
