I'm after a decat for my Fabia VRS Mk1 and may have sourced one for a reasonable price. I have read numerous threads about it on Briskoda, but that site is full of rumours and overly cautious middle-aged drivers.

I've been on this site for years and know there are a lot of VAG nuts and generally very mechanically-minded members.

My question basically is: if I'm running a standard turbo and doing 40 steady miles commuting most days, will the extra turbo spool with the decat cause any serious or inevitable problems? Would it be a can of worms not worth venturing into?

i know for other marques fitting a decat without a remap can cause problems, firstly throwing up CEL lights and also overboosting , which can cause serious failure

I don't get how it over boosts,
The actuator/waste gate should keep it under control,

Is it the k03 on these? As I do know the wastegate is garbage on them any way,

And tbh I'd go as far as saying your decat didn't make your camshaft snap, tell me the theory behind it?

Never heard of it causing problems on the pd130.

I drove mine deccated and not mapped for 20k and about a year. Was completely fine

Mines smashed the valve buckets to
Pieces and caused camshaft to break up no warning just went bang

Mine had no decat and blew 2 standard turbos not even high mileage, I personally wouldn't trust one again especially with mods
