Audi 2013 A3 2.0 S line vs Lexus IS300 (2002)
£248 per month for 23 months = £5704 plus 1488 initial rental = 7192 ownership for 2 years.
MPG- An average of 25MPG will be in place for the Lexus.....for 10,000 miles this equals £4620
Over 2 years, here are the other costs for owning the Lexus Is300- MOT- £35x2, servicing £100x2, Tax- £270x2. TOTAL= £810. Insurance= £1500 for 2 years. Grand total= £2310
Costs for Audi= Servicing £150x2, Tax- Either £30 or £60 for 2 years), NO MOT. TOTAL= £360 at most. Insurance = £800 for 2 years or £950 (per year) with Anuj on it. Grand total= £1160
Therefore Audi is £1150 cheaper to run over 2 years.
Fuel.....Audi would save £1379 over each 10,000 miles run= £2758 saving over 2 years
Lexus Total cost over 2 years= £2310 + £4726 (2 years fuel bill at 10k per annum) = £7036- £1000 estimated value of car after 2 years = £6036.
Audi Total cost over 2 years= £1160 + £1970 (2 years fuel bill) + £7192 (cost of hire) = £10,322
I estimate that the Lexus would require at least £1000 of repairs over 2 year ownership= £7036
£10,322 - £7036 = £3286
Therefore the Audi is £3286 more expensive to run over a Lexus after 2 years but is brand new no need to sell it after 2 years or balloon payment at end...

Basically for £3286 over 2 years, would you lease a brand new Audi A3 for £248 a month (inc VAT) over a 10 year old Lexus that has a huge fuel bill@!?

yes, but only if you don't want to do anything to it that isn't easily reversible.
good thing about new cars is the ''take it back and get it fixed'' warranty, which is ideal if you don't have time/space/knowledge to fix stuff.

When you look at it like that it sounds pretty good.
I used to be against finance on news cars but leasing is a very good idea for people with secure jobs. You basically spend around £300 a month for the rest of your life but you will always have a brand new car with no worries and every 2 years you upgrade it and carry on like that every 2 years.

10,000/25 = 400gallons of fuel
400* 4.545 = 1818litres
1818L * £1.50 (worst case scenario per litre) = £2727
therefore 2 years fuel for the lexus (@25MPG) = £5454

Lee- sorry I had a picture with the MPG's on but could not copy and paste it to here....
The MPG's are worked out as this.....
Lexus- 25MPG at 130pence a litre for 10,000 miles a year= £2364 x2 = £4728 petrol for 2 years on IS300.
Audi- £985 a year (at 60MPG for 10k at 130pence a litre) = £1970 fuel for 2 years.
Another fact is that I get paid mileage as well for my trips at 45p a mile

haha, I could do, but would be a few spreadsheets and graphs!
Basically the Lexus is much more to run on tax, fuel, insurance but the Audi will not be mine after 2 years.....

worth around 1.5k with current mileage/condition......will obviously be less in 2 years (quoted its worth a grand) plus who knows what will go wrong with it in 2 years, at least the Audi is under warranty

It doesnt say but there is a £199 plus VAT charge for initial rental charge and then its £248 a month for an S line with £1488 deposit.....
Then simply give it back after 2 years

I had another look at this earlier. You get nothing as standard, even with s line. I expect it's a lot more if you spec it to something you actually want.

Lexus is thirsty and will break.
Audi it still 3 grand more every single year though. That's an IS300 every six months. You'd have one in each colour by year 3.

but he'd be driving around in a 10+ year old car that could need costly repairs whereas the audi will be brand new, give the girls wet knickers and won't want for anything.

Makes perfect sense. My 3 series is cheap as chips.
Sharing it with the mrs it costs naff all. Think payments are around 2k each a year.
Servicing is free and tax is £120 a year.
