anyone been? been told it's a safari park rather than a walk around zoo so you need to take your car in there, but the site map indicates only a tiny part of the park is actually drive through.

I walked around when I went. Although, if you're lazy then driving is recommended as it's quite big.
It's a nice Zoo though!

Can drive around although to be honest you're better off parking up (either inside or out) and just walking it as a lot of the areas are away from the roads. And if you get knackered, then jump on the bus to get around.
Also double check the weather before you go, as the animals disappear and there isn't many indoor viewing areas if it starts to pee it down.
Worth having a quick gander at The Downs and Ashridge whilst you're there.
Woburn Safari Park is ok, just be weary of the monkey enclosure

Yup. Personally, i think Whipsnade is better for actually looking/petting animals although as mentioned the weather plays a massive part.
If you're desperate to head to Woburn then head to estate/gardens or you can drive through the estate and see the dear (/antelope?) for free. Some decent places to eat though like the Black Horse (part of Peaches Pub group) and Loch Fyne (seafood place).

Monkeys at woburn are the best bit lol, We lobbed mixed fruit on the roof as we went in and about 8 of them made a fucking beeline for my corsa and launched on it

I will never drive through a monkey enclosure ever again. I was lucky but the car in front was in pieces!

I live 2 mins away if your taking a bog standard car there is a small free car park 5 mins walk past the zoo but it is exposed so I wouldn't park a nice car in it
The safari bit has the train going through it as well hear it all the time

Fuck driving through one of them places, its like sticking your cock in a hamster cage imo, you just wouldn't do it for fear of any damage.

You wont be allowed to drive a convertible around anyway.

I went to Knowsley safari on Saturday, took a monkey 1 minute to pinch the plastic seal that rinse across my roof! Luckily the little sucked dropped it. A bifurcated one came and sat on front then so I got pannicy as it looked like it could have done some damage! Managed to get out without further damage plus the monkey dropped the seal and I managed to retrieve it.

i went to this place on friday. a bit too big to be walking around in 25 degree heat
most of the animals were laying down in the shade or just being boring so was annoyed about that.
one thing i liked was the wallabies/small deer things roaming around the park freely. was quite surreal seeing on just hopping into view
scenery at the back of the park is also rather spectacular.
saw an ostrich with an egg half coming out it's rear end too. looked painful.
