Sick of my ///M3s cd changer not playing mp3s. Have bought a gizmo to allow me to use usb storage sticks whilst still using steering controls etc..
BT infinity goes live where I live soon also...
If one was wanting some free music nowadays where would I look? Who do you use?
Last time I did it I used limewire and used to get some wierd shit.

It's hard these days if you're just after singles tbh without ripping them off youtube. Easiest to just find the track on an album torrent and just select the one you're after.
Otherwise, you can search google, a lot of the time latest tracks are there. What you do is type the name of the track you're after plus "4shared" or "rapidshare" or some other file sharing website. So if I was after Eminem - Not afraid for example, I'd type "eminem not afraid 4shared", e.g. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=eminem+not+afraid+4shared and there it is. Just hit download once you've followed the link

Singles/Hard-to-find, then Soulseek (also useful for albums; lossless material is difficult though). Otherwise Torrents/Usenet/HTTP downloads.
Edit - Using Youtube is a bodge, due to quality. Plus Youtube have started banning converter sites.

Ripping from youtube is pretty shite, but it's handy if you're using TubeMate and just downloading to your phone.

Read the NFO if you do nab something off Torrents/HTTP downloads etc as most of the time material tends to be VBR rather than CBR.

NFO - essentially the read me, will list the details of the download.
VBR/CBR - MP3's (and some other codecs) can either have a constant or variable bitrate. Latter is where the bitrate is increased during 'complex' parts of the media whilst being lowered elsewhere (you set a bitrate range with VBR) to save storage. You then get single and multi-pass VBR's, with the first being an on-the-fly encoding whereas with a multi-pass the encoder will analyse the media numerous times to 'best' guess the ideal values for the variable bitrate.
All depends how anal you are about audio; although saying that you'd probably being download FLAC to begin with if you were
