Basically there was a "Diary" left in various places and in the instructions on the front it said to write a chapter, and put it back down wherever you found it, and one day it'll be published. Was left at airports etc etc took years to return. Someone was telling me about it, sounds like it could be decent. 1000 diaries or something comes to mind, can't think though.
Any ideas?

Sure you're not thinking of the 1000 Journals project?
An artist sent out a 1000 journals to strangers, they were returned when filled, and the best pages got published in a book about the the project. There's also a documentary about it.
