Rear axel bushes go, heater control valvues go, rear arches rust thats about it for the COMMON faults.
I had one a few years back and tbh i would have another one with full exhaust and manifold and panel filter mannaged a 15.9 quater mile so not toooo slow but these really shine when you show them a corner.

The 1.6 can be made really nippy.
When I did Cadwell Park in my Clio 182 there was a Zetec S with shawspeed cams and exhaust, completely stripped. Was only just gaining on it on straight's. Cornered extremely well. Was on coilovers though.

ive got an early zetec s. They go well enough, handling is ok, and they are pretty well put together. Not a bad warm hatch at the price they are going for at the moment. As said, look out for rust, everywhere, mines 12 years old and has had to have the rear arches, boot, seat mounts and brake pipe mount welded and thats good compared to some

Front lower arm bushes never last on them either, along with top mounts and brake pipes (they're a real git for them).
