got an i.p address with a time stamp that i need tracing to a location. can anyone help?
Its giving the general area as warrington but if anyone can help narrow it down that'd be ace

Where you getting Warrington from? That's a Sky broadband subnet.
Not generally possible unless Sky help you out or you know where else they were on the internet at the time, you able to divulge the background?

typed trace i.p. into google and the first one gave me Warrington.
a freind has be recieving some wierd messages and managed to find an i.p. with time stamp on a stat checker website.
thats the only i.p. weve got

It's unlikely that it is actually Warrington, Warrington might even just be the location of the server that gave out that IP address to the router...

Not even that, most information is based off generated databases, data could of been collected from anywhere

Yeah my IP says Birmingham but I live about 12 miles away from there
Also, trying to find out who someone is from an IP is near enough impossible most of the time - for example I could connect to a remote PC in America and my IP would show up as somewhere over there rather than here.
So in short - don't bother, it's pointless

I would try and go about this another way, where are the messages coming from in terms of media? Is this on FB/twitter/email???
