Looking for something that will be competent on a track day, newish and fairly cheap to run. The ideas i have so far are phase 1 clio 172, thats it really. I currently have a Fiesta Zetec S which is not quick enough. Id be grateful for any ideas, thanks

Be hard pushed to beat that for a well handling car with 170+bhp.

From what ive been told they arent all that much quicker with a puma engine in, the £350 ish to convert it id never get back too, so dont think that idea is for me
Really quite liking the idea of a 172, probably not a Cup, my brother had one and i recall the insurance was higher as it didnt have ABS? But if there are ph2 full fat 172's around for £1500 ish then what a bargain!

Clio 172, MX5, Volvo 850? What about an E36 323? Even my cars not THAT bad to run, it was also cheap to buy, but refined and comfortable, yet easily the quickest car I've owned with the benefit of being RWD.
