I'm going to look at a mini for a friend tonight but i know fook all about them really. So what do i need to be looking for? Common faults etc etc

Car is a 53 Plate Mini One 1600

steering pump/rack, whines its tits off

Whining power steering pump when turning, oil leaking from the drivers side engine mount and rust bubbling around the tailgate handle area.

They do whine a bit normally but they whine like buggery when faulty.

Budget £250 for one and knock them down by £400 if its loud.

Also front wishbone rear bushes, about £50 for the pai but common.

To be fair, they are pretty good.

If its a cooper its a one piece exhaust that's pretty expensive, usually the backboxes fall appart and you have to replace the lot
