I had to pay for a full year even though I only had the house for 10 or 11 months.

You can have the option of 10 or 12 months but all has to be paid by end of March. If instalments fail/miss thats when charges are incurred.
If you get charged for a year and your not there for the full year as long as you follow procedure you shoukd be fine, Id be questioning that myself.

Don't get the whole 10 months thing. You have to pay exactly the same, might as well make it even

true, but id rather pay over 10 months that little bit extra then I get 2 months where im £140 better off
