could ford not get anymore from the engine? loads of mondeo's with this engine for sale and csnt believe theres no more bhp.

What's wrong with that? It's not a race car. Vauxhall only got 150 out of a 2.2.. An E46 3 series 2.0 makes 150bhp.. Audi A4 2.0FSI.. 150bhp again..

Not too bad really, torque is probably more important in day to day driving. Plus they'll still do 0-60 in about 10 seconds.

of course they could get more out of it, but i imagine emissions and reliability came higher on the priority

They can indeed get a lot more out of it, but emissions laws and silly euro rules mean they have to be restricted heavily.

Is it the 2.0duratecs that can see around 250-300 on throttle bodies, cams, management, etc?

VW only managed 115bhp from an 8v 2.0

And that 2.0 8v is fucking shite why would they try to get as much as they could from a 2.0 Mondeo engine? Quite a daft question tbh.
