How slow are these? Thinking of buying one as a winter run around but don't want nothing to slow. Is the 1.7 much better?
Also how good are they on juice?

It's easy to get 500 miles from a tank, they go ok but only 100mph flat out.

They're not all that slow, I had one for my first car and it was bloody quick compared to everyone's 1.2 shitboxes plus you can turn up the boost and fuelling. Best I got was 450 to a tank. Someone managed to get one doing in excess of 200bhp. Could probably put on an fmic easily enough.

Don't the frontera FMIC's bolt on to give some instant smile factor or have I been reading from my imaginary magazine?

I've one Jamie, it's not a bad wee car tbh, but s shitload better than the old 1.2! Nippy enough (haven't turned up boost/fuel yet)!

I had a mate's 1.7 B for a few days during the summer, utterly shite compared to my 1.5TD but I may be a touch biased!

The N/A 1.7's you get in B's are dog slow. Not sure on the frontera FMIC but it's an isuzu engine so I'd love to see someone attempt to put a 3.0 Trooper turbo and cooler on

I was told when I bought the car that that can't be done, however anything is possible so maybe! I did hear however (think it was on MIG) that a 1.7TD manifold & turbo off an Astra will bolt straight on?

probably easier to drop the 1.7TD in, in fact I'm sure someone on here did it in a corsavan.

Either Carl Roper or Derv-Power I think Alun. I've a 1.7TD here, looking for an excuse to do it!

My old workmate had a stripped out nova with 1.5td. Played with the boost and fueling and it went like stink! Bulletproof engine too. My old blue B was a 1.7 diesel. Dog slow but went to the moon and back without skipping a beat

To fit a intercooler is a bit of pain because it has a solid boost pipe from the turbo to the inlet. I think the best way would be to used a 1.7 turbo, with a modded exhaust down pipe.

I'd say leave it standard and keep the MPG up.

Can get 105bhp from the 1.5 without an intercooler. can get 120 from the 1.7 with intercooler. Theres a chap running a fourtrack turbo on an adapted manifold running 154bhp on a 1.7

I have the 1.7 turbo in my Astra atm and that goes well with a few tweeks and plenty of reek . If I get a Corsa though that will be staying pretty much standard engine wise.

Are all the 1.5tds Izusu engines or were some 1.5s GM?

1.5td are izusu engines, nippy and good for at least 60mpg. can be tuned. my uncle had the first one sold in uk, kept it untill 2004 when he got a zafira, it had only done 40k! great little run around.
