Did Subaru ever build a 4WD version or this car is the old 555 shape? Loads of 1.6's for sale here but I haven't seen one advertised as 4WD yet.

actually i could be wrong, looks like it was a 1.8 which was 4WD, 1.6 was not FWD until recent models

As far as I was aware the classic 1.6 only come in FWD.

actually thats how i found him out, he said it was a 2.0 but i found out 2.0 are awd and 1.6 is fwd. i think

The Subaru did do a 1.6 4wd Classic yes. Not many but they did do some!
IIRC, insuring a 2litre Non-Turbo is cheaper than both 1.8 & 1.6!

Probs not, my import just says Subaru Impreza and engine capacity on the logbook, nothing more. Still, bad idea.

No, Mine could be insured as a non turbo, Uk turbo and import Also come to Uk in 2000 was put on a N plate.

Does anyone know anything about the 1.8 auto? I've bought a 1992 1.8auto estate, but don't know anything about them. My father in law has sorted it for us, so haven't yet seen it, but it sounds like it'll be a tank.

It's only a short term car so not too fussed, just wanted to see if anyone has any experience of them
