using run of the mill intertia type rolling roads trying to get results within ~5bhp accuracy and claiming that as proof

using fly power guestimates to base your results on

Depends on the software being used, but if it calculates transmission losses on run down its not a guess.

Yes it is. Transmission loss is just a guess for a start based on other values that are just best guesses. Drag curve etc

Tell us all then Barnes how Trans losses are calculated which makes the value 100% accurate. No wheel based rolling road will give a hundred percent accurate fly figure hence why manufacturers have bench dynos

Yes. Because it doesn't take a genius to understand it's impossible to very accurately measure transmission loss based on the variables and inputs. There's some value in doing multiple runs but then you are relying on the laws of averages. Which in itself isn't infallible. Granted its better than rocking up and doing one run and saying there's your proof. If they were serious they would be using whp readings. Taking fly readings proves nothing especially when all we are talking about is 8 bhp

Unless things have changed substantially in the last ten years then that's how it was with any of the big companiesI have ever dealt with. Powerstation for example. One of the best rolling roads yet still relied somewhat on guess work for its drag curve

So if it MEASURES transmission loss on run down to give the reading after its just measured the power at the wheels, that's guess work?

yes because these measurements are based on other variables that are essentially guesswork. It's impossible to get an exact figure of power at the fly without having something connected to it thats where a bench dynos comes in

Oil doesn't give you extra bhp though.
