Hey guys, this is my 3rd car, well technically my first as i've had two vans since passing my test at the beginning of the year. Enjoy driving the van around but wanted something a bit faster and easy to work on, so I bought this corsa B from a friend and thought i'd start up a wee project thread, Any comments and suggestions welcome as i'm new to the vauxhall scene
Cheers.

I really like that, looks very simply done and the post97 bumpers always look well on a red corsa. Spoiler doesnt look like a genuine one but maybe that's just the pics, other than that it's a very good base to start with and doesnt even need anything doing to it imo.

Handbrake cable needs adjusting and tracking needs done, mechanically thats about it, bonnet needs repainting as it was painted black at one point then back to red and the paint isnt very good, few small scatches in places but other than that its pretty clean, the spoiler isnt geniuine but I plan in dewipering the boot and fitting a genuine one I also have a gsi bumper to be painted and fitted and i'll be fitting some white oz super t's when I get some new rubber, wind deflectors, and smoked depo's (morettes eventually) and a few other bits and bobs

Sounds like your plans will have this looking really good! Looks a nice project base! What engine is it? Plan to convert to a bigger one at some point?

I wouldn't bother tbh, plenty on here with 1.2s but secretly an XE or the likes.

So you're happy for another to be driving around technically not insured? You'll be the one bitching when one of these undeclared converted cars drives into you on the road

Not my problem if they get caught or if they crash into me. The insurer will pay out to the 3rd party (me), and then either cancel the policy or recoup the costs from the policy holder.

Why will they pay you? They would be uninsured.

No, they will be still insured. Only the insurance company can void the policy if they choose to. The policy won't automatically be void just because they havn't declared an engine conversion or whatever.
The policy they have taken out will still stand in the event of an accident involving a 3rd party.

The only way you'd get paid out is if you have uninsured driver accident extra thingy on your own policy... They're insurance won't cover you

Im 99.9% sure it will. As said, the policy will still stand for a 3rd party payout.
Its been covered many times on here, and been backed up by a few who work/have worked in insurance. LeeM was 1 of them who confirmed it.

I love the van, was a tough decision between this and a mk4 astra but this won as it was cheaper and I had seen one on a forum which made me want one for ages, still have plans for the van but its going off the road for winter and i'll have my corsa the van will hopefully one day be rs2000 powered if she doesnt rot away and when I can finally afford to insure a 2l lol, I can always dream......

Declare the engine swap. Why should i pay more for people who dont wanna pay for a faster car but not more on insurance? That is the thing that pees me off more than anything. I insured a c20let when i wasnt that old because i actually wanted piece of mind. And Corsasport_21 insurance can decide to not pay out even if its just an airfilter or cd player you havent declared so im sure if it was crashed with a different engine they wouldnt even look into it any further. And the only way you would be covered from idiots like that would be if you had"uninsured driver cover".

Thanks lads, the engine swap will be declared before it is on the road Got some new goodies today...
Car will be staying simple, genuine gsi spoiler, gsi bumper, wind deflectors, rear windows re-tinted, possibly gsi skirts and maybe a black roof (like the sunroof but think it would look better outside if it wasnt so noticable )
