Looking for a USB HDD to connect to my TV to enable me to record TV series ect. Also want to store films and music on it to play back through the TV. What do I need or can any one recommend one is there different transfer rates ect I need to look out for?

I just sold 3 usb3 1.0tb for £50 each on eBay, could hav had one of them
Look for USB 3.0 and make sure it's 2.5" so you won't need to plug it in to a wall socket

Id be interested to know how large a full length movie would be.
If I had to guess, your TV would most likely want to see a FAT32 formatted drive which has a maximum file size of ~4gb.
If a full length film is bigger than that it wouldnt work.

A what sorry? I was thinking about getting one of these http://direct.asda.com/Verbatim-320GB-53004-Portable-Hard-Drive-USB-2.0-Red/000507947,default,pd.html
Surely then I can load it with films music ect play it back through the TV and also use it for storage to record from the TV
