Im looking to drive a large 32"+ TV in our reception, which will mainly display either a powerpoint presentation or a flash based webpage.

I didnt really want to get a rasberry PI, whilst it would be ideal, it needs to be REALLY simple that the management could operate.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you bought the TV yet? If not get one that can play over the network, if not what about one of the cheap SD card players and just stick it on that?

Get one that plays from SD or USB.
We had that at my old work. Just fill USB stick with images at correct res, stick in TV and start slideshow. Job done.

Can't do the webpage this way, though...

TV hasnt been bought yet.
It MUST display a webpage, so I think it will need something to drive it.

Just buy a Smart TV that displays webpages, not sure about flash though, would have to test that first.

I suppose it depends how much you want to spend, can get those micro pc's quite cheap or something like the acer revo's. id just use any pc with a HDMI card in and stick it in a cupboard or anywhere, failing that why dont you just un it off a server somewhere else and just use cat5 to HDMI convertor and remote desktop to operate it, if you run Powerpoint presentations on it as you can embed webpages and flash into the slide shows, if you stick filezilla on it, you can FTP new PP files to it.

Do you think the Revo R3700 would be ok outputting a reasonable screen resolution for a large TV?
Was looking at: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ACER-ASPIRE-REVO-R3700-250-GB-HDD-2GB-DDR3-RAM-PC-Win-7-Prof-Grade-A-/181012569397?pt=UK_Computing_DesktopPCs&hash=item2a25309d35

32" isn't a large TV and at any rate TV resolutions are quite low compared to most modern PC's.

The revo will do that no problem, as Balling said a 32" is no problem.

Its alot of money just to play presentations though.

Look at these (im on the business version so ex vat prices)

Looked at the PCH, but I dont think it offered the flexibility and is quite a closed system.

Just ordered a reasonable Revo, Windows 8, 4gb ram, dual core cpu etc.
Paid £210, which isnt THAT bad for something which should be quite small, flexible etc.

Why not a TV with browser built in if it's only that 1 function?

Its not, its also power point presentations and possibly other stuff the down line.

Atleast with a PC, I wouldnt have to pish around converting the presentation to images each time its updated.

It also gives a little more flexibility for other media.

End of the day if theres a PC there then it has multiple uses, and can be re-used else where if not needed.

Seems no different to the Revo, perhaps slightly less powered?

If you've got an existing PC, just store it somewhere nearby and use a wireless sender?

(I assume there's a wireless sender for VGA but have no idea whether there actually is or not)
