10 years ago today I signed up to this forum, I was 17 and I had a Corsa C, brand new, red seats, 1ltr engine and air con. It was the bollocks.
From what I remember I was a lurker for a while, I only signed up on here to have a look and never went to meets or knew anyone on here. That was all my input on here, remember spending many a browsing session watching everyone modify their cars and being full of penis envy. I wanted some rims, colour coding, a yoyocorsa exhaust setup and at some point I’m quite sure I wanted a flycatcher kit.
Luckily for me I was at college, so all my money went on tea, fags and petrol. I think I got as far as going to a dodgy one man band paint shop at the back of a farm for a quote for colour coding and never going through with it. I got some tints for my birthday the next year and I felt like a badman with my 1ltr 12v engine whirrrling its tits off.
Anyway my posting activity got fruity when I broke up with my bird and found myself with lots of free time so I posted more, My first meet happened at Southend Seafront, I was too much of a pussy to just turn up randomly and meet everyone at the seafront so instead I arranged to meet Kerry and legendofyrag at Chelmsford, I jumped in a car and off we went. I can’t remember much from the meet but that was the start of the curse.
From there I went to PVS (2004?) when Trotty was still organising it all, this was back when PVS was sunny and the camping wasn’t full of gimps. Met loads of interesting characters and was so smashed from the camping I left the show at about 2pm
I think that year I didn’t go to Trax because I was being a pussy, and the next year was the first year of me organising tickets for PVS and Trax, apart from posting shit on the forum my biggest contribution to CS has been organising the show presence before and during. I ended up with the job because I volunteered - I obviously wasn’t aware what I was letting myself into.
So 8 years later I’m still doing tickets and as much as it can be a stressful pain in the arse type of job, I’m glad I’ve done it. Its given me skills in talking to people, handling weirdos and stealing stationary.
I’ve met some fantastic people on here and some other people through them, made friends which I hope last a lifetime, I’d really like to list some names but I know I’ll miss out some important people somehow. I would like to thank everyone for making this club what it is, for coming to the shows, for eating burgers and bringing corsas. 10 more years please
Here is a nice collection of pictures from the past which I’d like to share
