Boss came out with an amazing idea this morning. Because a job I've had to do some more work on has already had quite a few hours put to it, he said "spend half a day on it and then send it out however it is at that point".

Yeah that's true, but basically what's happened on this one is one guy who's not long been using the software started it, then he was on holiday when stuff needed sorting out so it's basically been given to me instead. Anyway, I got hold of it and it's in a complete mess and most of it was wrong so I had to re-do loads.

It doesn't help that we're never told how much time we've budgeted for on a project, so we just get on with it and put our hours to it. One of the people in my team has been asking for 3 years to be told how many hours we've allowed for with the fees, but of course nothing ever changes so we're as in the dark as ever.

Btw, I hope Simon doesn't read this as he's the architect

In other news, my car is booked in for a service tomorrow, but I'm going to ring them up now to see if they can check out the steering as well as it's feeling rather dodgy. Not what I'd expect after they replaced the rack only last September.

Like I said to Dave today, we are working on a scheme with some land owners.

Their architect sent out a plan today for us to check. I taught myself some basic CAD skills and use these to draw stuff for our company and to edit drawings etc.

This architect is on over Ł50 an hour.

I checked the area he had on the plan, think it was over half an acres out! Just completely missed out one area to put the redline plan around! He was going to submit the plan as well
