I've always used hammerite. Put 2 coats on and it give a good finish

Hammerite will work fine, but I always use Halfords own "caliper paint".

I never had an issue with hammerite until recently. It seems they have watered it down and is now complete shite. Unless I had a dodgy batch?? I was told that they had to water it down now to comply with health and safety crap. Any can with a Triangle embossed onto it is watered down

Just used it on the insides of my arches and seems ok! Does seem a little runnier but no major difference imo

I took ages prepping my brakes and did them with hammerite smooth, rusted underneath and just flaked off, maybe a dodgy batch

normal paint is fine
i have painted loads of porsche and ferrari calipers with normal paint with no issues
its all in the prep

I think hammerite sticks better to rust than nice clean metal, thats where i went wrong imo, needed some sort of primer

Used hammerite smooth on brakes with no problems, most theyve had prep wise is a rub down with a wire brush. It does say apply direct to rust so maybe works better with something to stick to.
Used it on both drums and calipers front and rear with no problems with heat

I've too painted a few sets of evo brembo's and both mine and the gf corsa 2.0l set ups.. Can't beat the finish and they stay nice and clean. Never had an issue.

Just used Hammerite smooth Red & White on the scooby and must admit it did seem a lot more watery than usual  2 coats though with a proper drying time between each (4hours) and they are fine though.
