I've just discovered a lovely 2 inch crack working it's way up my Cooper S's windscreen!
I'm with Admiral, and i think i have windscreen cover, but my documents aren't opening on my Admiral account
Are they likely to cover me for a heated windscreen with the rain and light sensor? Or am I going to end up forking out for it?

I'm with admiral also. Getting mine fitted this weekend. 75 quid isn't too bad.
Rac auto windscreens are fitting I and asked me on the phone whether it had the rain sensor and sunstrip, so they definitely replace like for like.

They aren't as RAC sold them about 4 years ago. Then they went bust and now it's a new company same name (without RAC) don't count on getting any warranty they arent going to be around much longer.

I've never ever told any insurance company about a glass claim (and never needed to) so that's bollocks.

Well at the end of the day your still making a claim so you do need to tell them other wise your insurance is void

I've told insurance companies in the past and they've told me windscreen claims don't count

I cancelled my insurance not so long ago and asked for proof on my no claims and on the certificate (piece of printer paper) they sent me in the box for claims it says :-
Claim details -
Date - Bonus status- Cost of claim
6/02/12 - allowed - £107.27.
This was from me getting my windsreen replaced and I still got my no-claims and obviously when I send in this "certificate" to my new insurer they're going to see the "claim".

If you do a quote on admiral and add in a windscreen excess claim, it doesn't add anything to the price.

Ahh, maybe Admiral is bothered then - When I told my current insurers (I've been with them for 3 years) they didn't care that I've had a replacement windscreen, nothing on documents anywhere.

not sure mate - only expereinces I have heard from BMW owners
However I have heard that some don't need doing - I think its down to the fitter and how well the bond the sensors back to the galss etc
I believe glass thickness has an effect but i would have thought it would be the same
I am no expert of glass replacement on cars though

Thanks for the heads up, but the rain sensor doesn't seem to work anyway either that or I don't understand how it works.
