A bit of advice from me - count money while the buyer is next to you and don't trust what they say

i once paid a good few thousand for a car cash, buyer left envolope on table and went to toilet whilst we were sat in his house, could hasve done a swap for an empty one or filled it with newspaper

once bought a car and met the lad in a service station in wales with the plan to follow him back to his as it was a mare and sat nav didnt have the location, he came into the mcdonalds, plonked keyes, logbook, v5, etc down on the table, shook my hand to say hello, went to order some food and a piss and then came back. could have walked out and drove off easy

some people are too trusting, never trust anyone

No it's not.

Lad I know let someone test drive his CTR on Thursday night, let the lad take it on his own. He took it, crashed into someone and drove off, brought it back and have the keys back to his dad and said they'd be in touch, his dad been lazy ad fat didn't go out to see the car. Hour later police were at the door about a hit and run. Made a bit of a mess of the car too!

Why would anybody not count the money? Always count money off a friend just incase there's a mistake let alone from a stranger.

I usually watch them count it as they give me and then i count it again in front of him, it's not going to offend anybody lol.

I always count it I'm just paranoid people are out to rip you off, when I got my old car the guy never counted the money was £4300 he just took the envelope and put it in a draw didn't even check if it had actual money in it. Some people are just silly that's not trusting just daft

Lesson learnt I guess, I don't have any qualms about counting money infront of people or the other way round, I usually tell people to check it anyway as you never know I may have miscounted?

I'm more bothered about fake notes tbh

When I was looking for an MX5 I went to view one at someone's house who left me the keys while they had dinner. If the car wasn't such a nail it would have been taken....

Always check, shouldnt be offended, shops check your money.

I sold TT in a service station, guy handed over a wedge of £50 notes, I counted then got mate to double check.
