I want to get my Dad a home brewing kit for Christmas. Any advice anyone can give as to what I need and what to look for?

Also, does anyone brew their own beer/wine/spirits at home?

I got a kit from home bargains pretty cheap. You need a second barrel or a set of bottles and caps so bear that in mind, if it's just a single barrel kit you'll need to buy more.
On a related note you've helped me decide on what to get my old man

I was thinking this kit

Do you not have to keep it somewhere warm to start the fermentation?

my dad does his in the shed more often than not now and he still gets same results as he would in the house.

tbh though he only really does it in the summer months now makes enough to last the year

The bigger Tesco Extra stores do all the bottles, tops and other home brew stuff as well.
