Have any of you ever grown out of cars so to speak. Happened to me a while back and since then I've been sensible, hence the 1.2 corsa.

Take john-d for example. He has had fucking loads of cars, he get bored quickly and fancies something else after he's did the basic "lowered, alloys, exhaust etc" wasting thousands of £££ on the way.

He's now saying that come insurance renewal time (April) he will sell the ///M3 and get either a 911 like toms, a c3 Corvette, an escort cosworth or a 3 door sierra cosworth.

He rarely uses the ///M3 as he simply doesn't need a car. Its nothing to do with servicing etc as he's just did insp 2.

Does anyone else think selling the car and keeping the cash is a better idea?

I'm on the opposite side, sometimes I wish I did the DaveyLC and buy one a little cheaper than the rest, do it up a little, sell it for the same price and then repeat! But then I love having something reliable!

I usually change cars when my circumstances change, which require something different from the car, I guess you could call that 'out growing'

He has done nothing that excites me, so i don't really care what he does.

Never finished that imp or whatever it was, bought a BMW which i said he wouldn't keep or do much with.

Waste of time, its like watching and taking interest in a neighbour trading in a 3yr old ford focus for a brand new one. All he has done is spent money.

I can't be interested in stuff like that, too common

Nah I don't mean like out growing a small car. I mean outgrowing cars all together, the point you realise modding is like pissing cash down the drain

"Modding" for the sake of it is. But if you have a car, and you think it would look better with a couple of changes here and there then I think it's worthwhile. More like customising rather than modifying.

This is him to a t. Looks on pistonheads/ebay all the time for what next. He says he enjoys making them nice and then when he's bored sells them on

I kind of have but hate driving a standard car. Finding it increasingly hard I justify throwing money at a car like I used to

Depends how you mod cars really, most people do it to seek attention imo.

You can love and enjoy cars your whole life, just pick decent meaningful ones.

Am not saying an e46 M3 isn't decent, but at the present time its just another car. Its cool to young lads who barry around the streets, trying to look cool, its affordable to them. A decent E30 would be far more interesting to the right people (the sort of people who enjoy cars, rather than trying to impress/out do their mates or an internet forum)

Imagine walking through goodwood and the sort of cars people stop at to remember or fantasize about. At the moment it wouldn't be an E46 M3, people would be walking past a sea of them parked outside without bothering to look.

Working his way up mate, don't see why you find that so funny. I know people that pay more than £20k for fords.

He has a good job, own house, mrs is studying to be a nurse. They will easily be able to buy one with a £60k per annum househod income. The problem is they are 2 wearers and he has a child now. Much like the c3 vette.

Prob talking about different Ferraris. I seem to remember John d wanted a 348. You can pick up one of them for less than £30k.
