What sort of stuff does he like?
Personally I don't drink Whiskey often but when I do I tend to opt for something peaty.
This would be my best bet for the £50 mark:

Give him something that will surprise him and he wouldn't have thought of him self.
Most whisky drinkers will enjoy a quality rum:

If you don't know what he likes or you know he likes Gelnfidich, why buy him a £50 bottle of something he might not like?

Don't think Saki is technically a whisky (though i could be wrong). Tis an experience though 'cus its one of few alcoholic drinks which you serve above room temperature.

Sake is almost like a beer - it's brewed from rice. Factoid!
