Banning guns doesn't work though, in 1997 they banned certain guns in this country (mainly pistolss) yet gun crime is still a problem, all gun bans do is take guns from people who use them for legal sporting purposes.

If I was a mentally unstable person, and decided one day I wanted to go out with a bang, I've literally no idea where or how I would go about buying a gun over here. Over there I can just walk into Walmart. That's the difference...

There will always be ways to get banned stuff and obviously will always drive some people to get them illegally.
However, being able to buy a gun with your bread obviously does not work, being allowed to walk about with your gun on show is just asking for death, imagine the amount of situations daily where emotions get a bit high or someone gets a punch. If you just pull your gun and shoot, someone dies instead of everyone going home and forgetting about it.

Exactly. I don't see how some folk aren't understanding that if that nutter was prevented from being able to readily get hold of guns then the number of dead kids would be significantly lower. Short of him planning some sort of bomb attack.
Sure, guns don't kill people on their own. But they provide a readily available way for someone to kill large amounts of people very easily and very quickly.
