Hi... I've had an iPhone changed over before due to the fact no one could hear you over loudspeaker/FaceTime.
Currently with my iPhone however, I have three little niggles...
- Unable to change volume on loudspeaker/FaceTime
- Orientation locks - This happens on text messages and internet. It's definitely not set to lock because there's no icon on the top, and it will still work in other applications
- Drops 3G/wifi although it appears to be connected with full bars of signal
The only way to stop these issues is to reboot the iPhone, then it works fine.
I have one of these issues around every few days now, getting annoying! What I'm worried is, I'll make an appointment at an Apple store, take it in and none of the problems will be there. What kinda proof do they need before they'll exchange an iPhone?
Cheers...

If you deliver a faulty phone they will take it for diagnostics/repair. If it's within warranty you don't need any form of proof.

Okay cool, but do they give you a temporary phone meanwhile? I don't want to have to be without one.
Regarding 'proof' I mean proof that it's failing...

They will normally check it there and then.
If they're unable to replicate the fault, you keep mentioning how difficult its making your life and how unimpressed you are.
They will swap it over without any quibbles.
Obviously your unlikely to get a brand new one, but it'll be a refurb in excellent condition.
p.s the first two issues you mention sound like software faults, not hardware. Id be tempted to backup to icloud and then do a phone reset.
Atleast if it carries on after that you can mention you've tried a full reset.

Reset will be the first thing they tell him to do, and most likely not to restore from a backup. They are good when the fault exists, I've never managed to get a replacement when it couldn't be reproduced though.

Thanks I'll have to try a backup, I hardly ever use iTunes tbh but I'll look into it.
Alun didn't you have to pay for a replacement in that case?

I got the same as Alun for my old 3GS, they said it was a common fault and replaced it there and then.

when your doing a restore, your only restoring the content, not the OS.
I cant see that any installed app/music/video would be causing the issues he's described?

They won't be, that'll be apple's step though.
I've had loads of problems restoring a 4S backup to a 5 for instance, which should work fine, but it's obviously doing more than just content.

Nope, I tried to trade it in at cex and the bloke said we won't accept it with that crack but apple will replace it free of charge as its a common fault. Wasn't sure but tried my luck and they did.
