Just agreed a price on buying an old building Set on a 28 acre plot . Place is totally fucked and had been like this for 50 year. No electric but has gas on the land but not at house. Few things I need to consult council on but can't see there being a problem . Am
meeting the owner out there again tomorrow so will get a few more pics. Waiting on a cost to get some electric there which I can see this being costly.Views are unreal

Awesome, hope all goes to plan. If you dig the trench for the electric supply yourself it will reduce cost considerably.
What's plans for this?

I wouldn't have thought so as it'll have to go into the main grid and therefore will need proper reg's.
Is it listed?
are you planning on having this as a holiday home?

I believe you can run the cable but needs to be checked before being buried, then off your land they will need to dig (road / path etc) then connect up.

No it's not listed. It's agricultural but it was passed for conversion into a house which has lapsed. It would be somewhere I would live at some point. I need electric as I would just shove an old static we have up there . It's very rural and will put another 45 min on my journey each way but am sick to death of living where I am where I work so it will be nice to get away. I'd also rent the land off for time being .

Baza they will charge what they want because there is no competion.
You could expect between 3k - 16k.
Have a look at alternative power i.e diesel generators, solar panels and a single wind turbine?

electricity board are coming out to look at job in two weeks. I wouldn't ever rely on solar or wind and would defiantly need electric and gas there with it being so isolated. I can see it been a drawn out process before anything moves. Council are hit or miss depending on who you speak to .

Forgot to update, to cut a long story short it's a non starter. I got the old planning information which said about surface water drainage routing , basically I would have to pay for a larger drain all the way down the lane if I was was re-routing the water from back of house. Also they wouldn't let it be extended which was refused prior . So basically too much hassle . I think they guy who was selling it bought it and realised after and that's why he wanted rid. Financially I wouldn't be prepared/able to do what the council needed and build a house to how I wanted.
