Rather bored tonight, so thought I'd make a thread on my cupra.
Bought it almost a year ago, went all the way to Bristol for it, about 1200 miles:
Did nothing to it for months, just kept it clean. Front bumper was being torn apart by stone chips though!
Fitted a forge boost hose which promptly burst:
Winter was coming, so bought this:
And put this in the garage for the winter:
Which now looks like:
Got these to go on:
And these:
Put the bumper, bonnet and boot badge all away to get sprayed. They made a fantastic job of it, need to get pics but the car and bumper etc is all at my parents house.
Work to be done before the end of March:
- Fit FK Silverlines
- New discs and pads on front
- Fit RARB
- Refit bumper, bonnet etc
- Clean up Intercooler, all boost pipes etc and refit
- Fit powerflex engine mount
- Few coats of Banana Armor
Shall get more pics next time I'm at the garage, aside from the work listed I'd like a Whiteline RARB, but plenty time for that.

Oh, also got a load of genuine new Seat parts for it, all bolts and top-mounts etc involved in the suspension, new front plate, new center caps, LED bulbs, few other small bits.
Need to get rid of the over spray on the headlight too, previous owner must have had the bumper sprayed on the car.

Nice, always had a soft spot for these since my black pre-facelift FR TDi.
My OEM boost hose popped off after my remap, it had some little lugs holding it on and they sheered right off. Another OEM replacement lasted me the remaining 4 years of ownership though!
That black insert on your pumper could maybe do with a black vinyl wrap to avoid having to repaint it every few years! Not sure how durable it is though.

Aye, my OEM one was leaking, bought the forge on and it blew within a week! Replacement has been fine though.
As for the wrap, I considered doing that already. I'll wrap it once it gets tatty again!

I hope it's had an uprated clutch otherwise either your clutch will die rather quickly or it's a very optimistic graph which in my opinion it is. They normally touch 300ft/lb after a decent remap.
Nice car though, after my FR I'd like to jump in a cupra either tdi or 20vt and see the difference.

Yeah, it does but I can't remember what it is though! Must check the paperwork to see what it is.

Ahh that's alright then, new clutches aren't cheap especially uprated ones.
That must shift though, my FR had 163bhp and downhill it reached a touch over 150mph on the speedo so this would have no problems crack 160mph
I had AP coilovers on mine, completely transformed the handling of the car, reduced the bodyroll 100% easily.
Should look at doing a rear brake upgrade off the LCR, fills the rear wheels out better and disks are vented too

Just looked at the paperwork, its a Sachs one, still using the DMF, so that's the weak point really!
Aye it's upset a few cars, everyone is surprised when they find out it's a diesel. Unfortuanly, there's not much more I can do to it without spending £££ (Hybrid turbo, uprated injectors etc).
Must look into the rear brakes, shall research it more when the rears need done, were changed just before I bought the car.

As far as I know, the LCR is a bolt on mod, you just need to trim/remove the backing plate for the disk as the rear disks are 256mm IIRC.
Another weak point is the FMIC, the SeatSport ones flow better than Forge but are prone to leaking at high boost which no doubt yours will be.
I'd just enjoy it for now, as you said without mega money it is expensive to squeeze more power out of it. Plus for a hybrid turbo you'd maybe touch 240bhp? Not worth it for the slight increase and the higher chance of killing something else.

Yeah, 240bhp is about the next step it seems.
Had a quick browse for LCR rear brakes, looking around £80 for decent rear discs & pads, plus whatever some second hand calipers will be. New are £180 each!

Looking good Chris. I sold my mk4 tdi with hybrid turbo just before xmas. I miss the mpg now !!
I do suggest the whiteline rarb - transformed my car. Could carry the car through corners much better. And the powerflex was a good mod too - if not a little bit of vibration when fitted but soon settled down (or i got user to it)

Yeah, looking to get a RARB when I find one cheap!
Bonney, apparently they had never seen it before - Reckoned it was a problem in the layering process or something. New one has been fine!

Boost hoses on these are shite... really bad. Pop off for fun. Looks good though, get a rear ARB. 312mm brakes are the way forward too
