My halfords pro trolley jack has finally stopped working, (left me with car stuck in the air last week) had to get it down with the winding emergency jack

Am looking at this one:
http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/ctj1250a-11-4-tonne-aluminium-trolley-jack

Seems to have some decent reviews, anyone on here got one or recommend something?

I use that. It likes to go on 3 wheels quite alot.

Otherwise nice to use, wouldn't say it's worth more than £60 personally. When I bought was £120
I think.

I was looking at Jacks and stands over the weekend.

Saw this: http://www.tooled-up.com/product/sealey-2-ton-short-chassis-yankee-trolley-jack-axle-stands/150100/?Referrer=googleproductlisting&gclid=CLusvt68-bQCFXDLtAodPHgAAg

Seeing you're looking at spending £100+ though, I guess this is a cheapo jobby best to be avoided?

^^^Alot of them are like that, i reckon all made by the same place, my halfords one was the same.

Its the cup bit that comes into contact with car i don't like, always have to use a bit of wood with it and they sit quite high

Be worth trying. I've had them not ask for receipts before.

If you don't want to try ill buy it from you and try myself

I have that jack. Entry wise it's brilliant.

I did have to take one back though because it was leaking at a seal somewhere.

If you can get access to a Costco card, the Alcan 3 Tonne XL one is spot on. About £90 too iirc.

how broken is it as it quite likely the valve undernieth has just stopped working or is it a mechanical break of some kind? if its hydraulic it will be an easy fix

Think its the valve, pumps up but won't lift any weight.

all it will likely be fella is under that valve there will possibly be a ball or some kind of point and its most likely there is some swarf or foreign part stopping it from creating a seat!...

I have a cheap £10 - £15 jobbie from Rapid i got about 7 years ago. Does the job but hasn't had that much use to be fair.

Will be getting a Halfords Professional next time.
