At the moment I still have the e46 330ci had it for 2 and a bit years now. Just bought the misses a new car (punto 1.2 pop) she loves it, house is going up for sale this week so new house and garage coming shortly which will allow for a better car.

I have 4 options on the cards at the moment.
E9x m3
Rs4
Evo ix
Cayman S

I started a thread a while back about the story selling/buying the house and looking for a new car etc. well that was delayed some what due one screw up after the other. I see myself as having a budget of up to 20k but that can be stretched for any good examples found.

I am only doing my research on the cayman before making any rash decisions , I do not really know anything about Porsches hence me looking for a decent forum.

I'd love a cayman. Look better than the boxster and even some of the 911's.

Cayman was next on my list before getting distracted by my childhood hero car for half the price

Lad at work had a cayman s for a year though, I loved it even though I felt it was a little rough around the edges in terms of condition. He sold it on to avoid the impending costs of brakes, tyres and a service... But he has a history of moving cars around quickly to minimise depreciation and costs.

I really like the new facelift caymans, so I think I'll monitor their value over the next 18months or so. Servicing and maintenance seem scary on these, worse than the
Evo community when it comes to specialists and ambitious costs.

Service costs do not look too bad, do you have any examples of high cost? Any ideas what is the service intervals are? I will only be doing 4k/year maximum due to traveling all the time with work.

I can't see them being over expensive in comparison to everything else in the list.

To be fair the intervals are quite long, 18-24 months if I remember right.

Consumables aren't cheap, rear tyres can be best part of a grand.

I don't know any proper numbers, I just read a lot of forum posts about them late last year when I was considering my options.

I need to do some proper research over the coming months while browsing the usual car sites keeping an eye on prices. I have been glued to the mlr for sale section for weeks, these cars are overpriced imo but it hasn't stopped me looking.

My brother has just bought his mrs one, they are lovely, lovely cars.

997 Turbos are slowly coming down to your budget. Do you like the 996s?

Exactly tom, clearly there's some around 20k mark but evidently tip over the desirable manual, shit brown leather and probably been crashed, else needing clutch, 3 radiators, brakes and tyres in the next 6 months.
