Going to an ale festival soon and i want to try a few different ones but not sure what. I usually drink lager so don't want to try real heavy ales. What do people recommend as a good starter?

And IPA's.

And just try anything except dark and strong stuff.

Depends on the ipa though. I wouldn't suggest punk ipa to a carling drinker

Just go find taylors landlord, the drink of gods

Agreed here, just try the pale ones.

You should be able to get decent pointers at a beer festival too, the 'bar' staff should know what's what.

Try them all. That's the idea imo. I went to one and they had 6 different ones. Not much of a festival I thought to myself. But didn't say anything.

I had a stint on ale but it didn't half make me shit loose.

Can't stand it warm either.

I mainly tried the brands such as London Pride, Bombardier etc. Had some dodgey Hobgoblin stuff through work. 7% stuff was a bit crazy.

I'm on Beck's Premium Light at the moment. 2.3% 150 calorie per bottle goodness.

Only at home. Its like guilt free mid week beer.

Plus £3 for 6 bottles hooked me in and I was fed up of falling asleep on a Friday after 1 or 2 bottles

Brewdog ale is nice, but they now have pubs, too commercial? Still prefer cider tbh.

I've had a couple of Brewdogs offerings. Punk IPA and one called Tokyo that really fucked me up. Turned out it was about 18% which would explain it!
