Well as above really...

Just bought a new LED TV which is going in an alcove on a twist and tilt bracket on the wall. Above I need shelves for our Sky HD box, DVD player, Xbox etc and Wii. Now the deepest of these buggers is 14" that rules out a lot of off the shelf shelves!

When I did our bedroom TV I made my own shelf out of 20mm board and wrapped it in the same wallpaper from the wall behind it. It looks pretty decent IMO but this time were not decorating at the same time so I just want a standard shelf or if anyone has done something special I'd like to see/copy

Might end up going for something like this...

Although even though it sais it comes with a 'Cable Management System' I'm a bit dubious

i have something similar to that one in the link and the cables are hid in the silver bit running up the wall. works well.

my dad got a bit of smoked glass cut to size and put it on some nice chrome brackets in an alcove. cost about £60 but looks a lot better.

I find a walk around IKEA will nearly always inspire a hack from one or two of their products

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Thanks Ben, we have our old 50" LG on a nice black glass stand now and the TV is gloss black. This new one has a silverish edge so might try and get a chrome one. There's a really good glass place down the road from me too.

I think your right Stu any excuse to get some meatballs I guess!

Bought this....

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0046B9OTC/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1360680723&sr=8-5&pi=SL75

And this.....

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B003VROU0A/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1360680666&sr=8-6&pi=SL75

Both arrived today and have to say the quality is superb. All cables will be hidden although impossible to hide completely with the wall bracket, which we need to be able to move/swivel away from dead straight.

Will be putting new wallpaper up and these up when the TV arrives. Just have to sort the electrics and sky cables out.

Will get some pics up when it's done.
